Car accident kills Ohio man

In Lyons, Ohio, at approximately 5:00 p.m. on March 11, a pickup truck collided with a semi-truck pulling a tanker. A 22-year-old Ohio resident who was the driver of the pickup was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver did not report any injuries. The tanker was empty at the time of the truck accident.

It is believed that the accident occurred because the young man failed to stop at a stop sign. The pickup collided with the rear axle of the semi-truck. Police believe that alcohol may have contributed to the collision. The man's blood alcohol level at the time of the accident was not released.

Drivers who cause accidents through negligent or reckless driving are liable for damage. The law does not allow a driver to introduce evidence of careful driving if the person's blood-alcohol level exceeded the legal limit at the time of the crash because evidence that the person was driving while intoxicated is in itself evidence that the person did not drive carefully.

A seasoned personal injury attorney is often able to negotiate with insurance companies on behalf of clients to ensure the best possible recovery. The insurance company typically is more interested in paying as little as possible than in ensuring that accident victims be fairly compensated. Drivers whose vehicles are damaged in collisions may be entitled to have the other parties pay for repairs. A deceased driver's estate remains responsible for damages. An attorney may also be able to negotiate a settlement to compensate injured persons for any medical bills, lost wages and pain and suffering. Attorneys may also help people involved in car accidents understand their rights and options and recommend courses of action.
