North Ohio construction worker killed in car accident

Although a large number of car accidents leave other motorists or passengers injured or dead, there are other victims to these horrific accidents, too. Sometimes, it is a pedestrian who is fatally wounded in a car accident, and for those people whose work puts them right next to the road, there is always a risk that an inattentive driver will plow right into them. Sadly, this seems to be what happened to a 63-year-old man in northern Ohio.

The Campbell man had been working construction on Interstate 90 in Avon when he was hit by two vehicles underneath the bridge on Lear Nagle Road. The construction worker had spent his morning hanging tarps to begin painting the bridge when two vehicles collided underneath it, sending one of the vehicles crashing into him. It is not known what the exact nature of his injuries was, but it is clear that they were extremely severe as the hospital staff at Avon Emergency Care Center was unable to save his life.

The police do not believe alcohol or drugs were involved in the crash, but this does not necessarily preclude their responsibility for the accident. It is likely the 63-year-old's family could file a wrongful death lawsuit against one or both of the drivers. It is a motorist's responsibility to avoid accidents and to drive safely, especially when in a construction zone. Not only do construction zones make driving a little more difficult because of the condition of the road, but also because there are often construction workers around.

The federal Occupational Safety and Health Organization is investigating the accident.
