Cleveland-area buggy accident leaves 4 people injured

Whether it is a car, a motorcycle or a buggy, Ohio motorists deserve protection while they are on the road. This means that drivers need to be safe around others and to follow the traffic regulations. When drivers fail to do this, they open themselves up to a car accident in which someone could get seriously injured or killed, making the driver financially responsible for the accident.

Southwest of Cleveland was the scene of an Amish buggy accident that has left four people hospitalized. The accident seems to have been caused by a 33-year-old man who had smashed into the back of the buggy before then hitting an SUV. The two people in the SUV were injured and needed to be taken to the hospital. It is not known what their condition is or when they are expected to be released.

What is even more frightening is the collision with the horse-drawn carriage. An SUV may have a little more protection against a reckless driver than the thinner, more delicate frame of a buggy. A 2-year-old that had been riding in the carriage was air lifted to a hospital and admitted in serious condition. Again, there are no reports on his progress or the nature of his injuries. A young woman was also in the carriage and had non-life-threatening injuries.

Ohio law enforcement is continuing to look into the accident and will issue more information as it becomes available. It is unknown whether the passengers in either vehicle will be filing a personal injury lawsuit against the driver of the car.
