Head-on collision south of Hillsboro leaves 2 dead, 1 injured

When we get behind the wheel of our car, we put on our seat belt, check our mirrors, put on our turn signal and look both ways before we make a turn. We can follow every single safety law possible to ensure that we make it home without incident or injury, but the one thing that we cannot control are the actions of another.

Every driver on the road has a duty to act in a responsible manner, but as we all know accidents happen every day because not everyone upholds that duty. When a driver is negligent, the results can be devastating. Simply look at the results of a car accident that occurred earlier this week in Ohio that left two dead and one stable, but in serious condition.

The accident occurred on Wednesday, July 18 on U.S. Route 62. The scene of the accident was located just south of Hillsboro. The Ohio State Highway Patrol and medical personnel responded to the accident report. The two vehicles at the scene had been involved in a head-on collision. The initial report shows that one of the vehicles had lost control and crossed the center lane. It is unclear at this point what made the woman driving the vehicle do so.

An 85-year-old woman and a 91-year-old woman were in the vehicle that crossed the center line. Both of the women were pronounced dead shortly after the accident. The 74-year-old woman who was driving the other vehicle was airlifted to University of Cincinnati Hospital. Doctors were able to get her to a stable condition, but the extent of her injuries remains unknown.
